The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), set to open in Giza next year, displayed the coffin of Pharaoh Tutankhamun which is undergoing restoration. The coffin reportedly remained in Tutankhamun's tomb until July when it was transferred to the new Grand Egyptian Museum. Tutankhamun died in 1,323 BCE at the age of 19 and the discovery of his largely untouche tomb in 1922 by British archaeologist Howard Carter sparked huge public interest around the world.
