Young People Hit the
Streets for Global Climate Protest Young people protested inaction
against climate change on Sept. 20,
in major and small cities all over the world. Protestors carried signs with messages
such as “Dead Planet Soon. Act Now!”
and “Make the World Great Again.” Antonia Brüning, 14-year-old protestor, via 'NYT' Mobilized largely on the internet,
reports of protests spanned the globe
from Europe to Africa to Australia,
Asia, the Middle East and the U.S. Joining the protests were doctors,
technology workers and scientists. Though China's greenhouse
gas emissions top every other country
in the world, the government
did not authorize protests. On Monday, the United Nations
will host speeches by world leaders
concerning climate change. Protests
are planned for that day as well. According to reports, the
goals of the Paris Climate Accord
continue to be far out of reach.
