A mosque in Hong Kong was hit by jets of blue dye from a water cannon truck as police attempted to disperse protesters during a rally on Sunday.

Video of the incident showed the police firing towards the front gate of the Kowloon Mosque where a group of people were standing.

In a post on Twitter, the Hong Kong Police Force said that police representatives had 'paid a visit to the Kownloon Mosque to meet with the Imams' after the incident.

The Muslim Council of Hong Kong said that 'the mosque was 'not the target, rather the few people standing outside'
