Vitalant and the Phoenix Suns want you to be a Blood Hero

Vitalant needs Blood Heroes this winter. The holidays and winter are one of the toughest times of the year for maintaining blood donations. We have an increase in the population due to colder temperatures elsewhere and this leads to a greater need for blood in our hospitals. On top of this blood drive donations have less attendance as people focus on the holidays and often leave town to visit family. Cold and flu season can also dramatically impact donations. The Phoenix Suns is partnering with Vitalant. From November 16-30, 2019 donate blood and receive a voucher that can be redeemed for a Phoenix Symphony concert. The Phoenix Suns are also partnering with Vitalant to help increase Platelet donations. Platelet donors provide the clotting factor that controls bleeding for trauma, cancer and aplastic anemia patients. Platelets are the most fragile component of whole blood and must be transfused within 5 days of donation. From November 15 to January 15th, donate platelets and you can earn appreciation Phoenix Suns items. A donor can be as young as 16 with parent’s permission and there is no upper age limit. Vitalant has 6 donation centers across the valley and appointments are recommended. For more information on donation centers, blood drives, or to make an appointment visit bloodhero.com.
