Thai motorist is dragged into bus engine while trying to repair the cam belt

This is the agonising moment a Thai bus driver was sucked into his vehicle's engine while trying to fix the cam belt.

The driver, who has not been named, left the bus running while he walked to the back to look at the machinery last Tuesday (Jan 14) night.

CCTV shows how he reached inside while trying to see the problem but his hand was suddenly caught by the fast-spinning belt.

His limb was then trapped, leaving him unable to free himself from the situation in Chachoengsao, central Thailand.

Shocked bystanders working at the bus station heard the driver's howls of pain and ran over to help. One tended to the injured man while another turned off the bus's engine.

The rescue worker said: ''The driver had a small laceration on his head and his wand was sore, with a minor cut.

He went to the hospital for a check-up and went back home that night. He could quickly return to work, but people reminded him to turn the engine off before trying to do repairs.''
