A cruise ship has been filmed gliding sideways towards the port during a storm after being overpowered by the winds.

One local in Bodø, Norway, caught the ship on camera as it struggled to cope with the winds of 55-60 knots as it attempted to enter the city’s harbour.
Skipper Tormod Karlsen said the ship was at a "point of no return" as he had already dropped the anchor.

Footage captured the moment the 11,386 tonne ship glided sideways as the storm saw waves splash into the air.

Despite being pushed on its side, the ship managed to stay upright.

After crashing into the harbour, an onboard worker through a line over the side in a bid to tie the ship up.
We just had to leave it and use the engines for everything they were worth," the skipper added.

The video was captured yesterday.
