El Vocho, leader of the Los Viagra cartel, is reportedly captured after a gun battle that raged through the streets of the town of Uruapan. Later armed men blew up vehicles in retaliation
Cars have been blown up as Mexican cartel Los Viagra went on the rampage in retaliation for their leader being captured by cops.

A shoot-out between police and cartel members in the western state of Michoacan saw three police injured and three armed men captured – reportedly including Los Viagra boss El Vocho – on Friday.
One of the men caught is also injured from the battle in the town of Uruapan.

There are local media reports saying that El Vocho, whose real name is Luis Felipe Barragan is among those captured.

Michoacan authorities tweeted: “We have detained three people, one of them is injured, in operations that have been carried out in Uruapan.”
The gun battle continued along several streets in the centre of Uruapan with people fleeing for cover as bullets rang out.

Los Viagra members reacted to their boss being captured with a terror spree where they have set on fire vehicles on roads in the area and it is unclear if there are any casualties.

Los Viagras, known for their extreme violence, is in a bitter turf war in Michoacan with several cartels fighting it out for power.

Jalisco Nuevo Generación Cartel (CJNG) has become Mexico’s strongest since the capture of El Chapo which has weakened his Sinaloa gang although they remain a major force.
The CJNG has been looking to move into Michoacan and has been in a turf war with the Los Viagra and splinter cells that have broken away from the now-defunct Knights Templar Cartel.

Last month a video emerged on social media of members of Los Viagra going into El Aguaje, the home town of CJNG leader El Mencho and firing bullets into the air as well as writing the initials of the Los Viagras on walls.

El Aguaje was the scene of a massacre in October last year where the CJNG killed 13 policemen and left three others injured in an ambush.
