Follow along and learn how to draw and ink panels for your very own comic.

Materials:

--paper or bristol board
--light box (optional)
--tape
--ruler
--pencil
--eraser
--pen

Instructions:

1. Plan out your comic panel layout, thinking about the comic story you want to tell and where you want the boxes to be. You can make your comic panels any size you like. Some can be smaller, and others can be larger—or even different shapes.
2. Using a ruler so your edges are straight, trace your comic panel layout in pencil onto a piece of paper or bristol board. You can erase if you make a mistake or want to change your layout. You can tape down the edges of your piece of paper to keep it in place. If you have a light box, place your piece of paper on top to see the lines more clearly.
3. Once you have drawn the final layout you'd like to use in pencil, use a pen and ruler to carefully trace on top of your pencil lines and make them permanent.
4. Your comic panels are ready to go. Now draw your comic using the inked layout!
