Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic is an action game released through the Nintendo-Fuji Television partnership, and developed by Shigeru Miyamoto for the Nintendo Famicom, released only on Japan in July 1987.

When the time to bring Super Mario Bros. 2 overseas, Nintendo of America was unsatisfied with the original game's difficulty and decided use Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic instead, changing the sprites for characters from the Super Mario universe and released it under the title Super Mario Bros. 2 overseas and Super Mario Bros. 2 USA in Japan, while keeping the mechanics and levels intact.
