People in South Korea that visit nightclubs, bars and indoor-exercise facilities will now have to be scanned using a QR code before entering as a precaution against COVID-19.
Health authorities say that, from Wednesday, eight high-risk entertainment venues are now obliged to use a QR code-based visitor register system after a week-long trial run was successful.
Visitors need to present their one-time QR code containing their personal information and submit it to the venue.
Health authorities will then be able to access their information when the contact tracing is needed.
The information will be destroyed after four weeks.
The measure was introduced to prevent another cluster infection like the one in Itaewon when many visitors submitted false information.
