NBA News: Kyrie Irving Starts Fund for WNBA Players Sitting Out 2020 Season

Kyrie Irving is showing his support for WNBA players who decide to opt out of the 2020 season. The WNBA, similar to the NBA, is playing inside of a bubble on the campus of IMG academy in Florida. Irving has started a $1.5 million fund for players who choose to opt out over health concerns, social justice reform, or other reasons.

Prior to Irving's initiative, WNBA players who decided not to play had no form of financial reimbursement from the league.
