Jeevanaputrika vow is the folk festival that fulfills the wishes of children for safety, health, longevity and prosperity. On the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month Jeevaputrika is fasted. This fast is on 10 September Thursday. Women observe this fast to save their children from sufferings and fulfill their long-cherished desires. This fast is celebrated. In some places it is also known as Jitiya or Jiutia Vrat.

संतान की सुरक्षा, स्वास्थ्य, दीर्घायु, समृद्धि की मंगल कामना को पूर्ण करने वाला लोकपर्व है जीवित्पुत्रिका व्रत। आश्विन मास की कृष्ण पक्ष की अष्टमी तिथि के दिन जीवित्पुत्रिका का व्रत किया जाता है। यह व्रत 10 सितंबर गुरुवार को है। इस व्रत को महिलाएं अपनी संतान को कष्टों से बचाने और उनकी लंबी आयु की मनोकामना की पूर्ति के लिए करती हैं। इस व्रत को निर्जला किया जाता है। कुछ जगहों पर इसे जितिया या जिउतिया व्रत के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।
