European Union foreign ministers have agreed to sanction Russia over the alleged poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
The bloc also agreed to place sanctions against Belarus' President Alexander Lukashenko for the political crisis ongoing in his country.

Mok-yeon, the EU has backed the proposals made by France and Germany, to sanction Russian officials and organizations over the alleged poisoning of Alexei Navalny.
The Kremlin critic has been recovering since he fell ill on a plane to Moscow in August.
27 foreign ministers meeting in Luxembourg on Monday agreed to adopt the proposal unanimously.
"We have discussed possible elements of a strong EU common response to the use of a prohibited chemical nerve agent, implement a proposal done by France and Germany about restrictive measures against those linked to this assassination attempt."
EU ministers also agreed to sanction Belarus leader Alexander Lukashenko, for the political crisis ongoing in his country over the alleged rigging of the August presidential election.
"A set of countries has listed a new set of names, among them, Lukashenko himself, and our members accepted this proposal."
Demonstrations have continued in Belarus for two months since the August 9th election, which extended Lukashenko's 26-year rule, with over 80 percent of the vote.
The EU has already imposed travel bans and asset freezes on 40 Lukashenko allies, who the bloc holds responsible for violence against peaceful demonstrators.
With Monday's political green light, technical bodies of the European Council will now move to prepare the sanctions.
