Vienna shooter identified as ISIS extremist

As Austria mourns the deaths of at least four people who were killed after a gunman opened fire in central Vienna on Monday night,... authorities have identified the suspect, as a 20-year-old man with links to the Islamic State terror group.

Armed with an automatic rifle, pistol and a machete,... while wearing a fake explosive device,... a man opened fire in central Vienna on Monday night,... killing four people and leaving 22 others wounded.
The suspect who was shot dead by police,... has been identified as 20-year-old Kujtim Fejzulai,... an Islamic State sympathizer.
The shooter, an Austrian national, also held citizenship from North Macedonia.
According to Switzerland's Interior Minister Karl Nehammer,... the shooter was previously sentenced to 22 months in prison,... after he was arrested for trying to travel to Syria to join the Islamic State.
He was released early due to his age after being admitted to a government-funded de-radicalization program.
Swiss police on Tuesday arrested two others during the on-going investigation of their possible links to the main suspect.
An 18-year-old and a 24-year-old were arrested 10 kilometers from Zurich.
They are known to have Swiss citizenship.
Fourteen people have been detained and questioned so far,... after Austrian police raided 18 premises.
While the authorities have previously said they could not rule out of the possibility of other shooters still being on the loose,... Nehammer said footage of the incident show no evidence of a second gunman,... although the possibility had not been ruled out completely.
The Austrian government has announced a three-day period of official mourning as of Tuesday.
Flags on public buildings have been lowered to half-staff,... and a minute's silence was held at noon.
