Former India batsman Gautam Gambhir talked about Pant and asked the media to stop comparing him to MS Dhoni.First of all, you have to stop saying that Rishabh Pant is the next MS Dhoni. That is one thing which media needs to stop doing it. The more media talks about it, the more Rishabh Pant starts thinking on those chances.

ऋषभ पंत को धोनी का उत्तराधिकारी माना गया। पंत ने शुरुआती मुकाबलों में प्रदर्शन से अपने दावे को पुख्ता किया। हालांकि समय के साथ-साथ उनका खेल, खास तौर पर शॉट सिलेक्शन सवालों के घेरे में रहा। इसके बाद सीमित ओवरों में उनके स्थान पर केएल राहुल विकेटकीपर बल्लेबाज के रूप में पहली पसंद बन गए वहीं टेस्ट में उन्होंने ऋद्धिमान साहा से अपना स्थान गंवा दिया। टीम इंडिया के पूर्व सलामी बल्लेबाज गौतम गंभीर मानते हैं कि पंत को अगला महेंद्र सिंह धोनी बनने की बात नहीं सोचनी चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि कोई भी अगला महेंद्र सिंह धोनी नहीं हो सकता।
