Farmers' Tractor Rally Devolves Into Siege Of Red Fort: Protesters Hoist Sikh Flag Nishan Saheb
  • 3 years ago
Farmers protesting the Modi Government’s Farm laws embarked on a Tractor rally to mark Republic Day and two months of their protest on January 26. While news came of minor skirmishes in Ghazipur between protesting farmers and Delhi police, a section of farmers began a march to Red Fort. By afternoon hundreds of farmers had reached the Red Fort compound and pushed their way into it. Protesters then began to climb walls and hoisted the Sikh flag known as Nisha Saheb (seen at gurudwaras) at the Red Fort. They also filled the Ramlila ground, the original site they wanted to protest at but which they have been denied. News is coming in of police carrying out a lathicharge of the protesters inside the fort.
