The man who designed the Daleks dies at the age of 84

Ray Cusick - the man who designed one of science fiction's most famous villains - the Dalek - has died. He was eighty-four. In 1963, he was a BBC designer - asked to create a race of aliens for a new programme called Doctor Who. The Daleks proved to be a sensation - and have reappeared throughout the near fifty years of the show's history. The BBC's Tim Allman looks back at his life and career.
