Dramatic dashcam video captured the moment a hero truck driver turned his rig into a battering ram to stop a fleeing murder suspect who led police on a lengthy pursuit in California.
Michael Caleb Reed, who was wanted in a March 28 homicide in Oildale, and a female passenger took off in a pickup from the San Diego area about 5:30 pm Tuesday and headed north toward Riverside County.
He then led police through streets in the Pomona area, where he drove on the wrong side of the road on Hill Boulevard around 6:20 pm when he swerved near a truck, causing it to collide with a sedan.
Reed later pulled into a 99 Cents Store parking lot, clipping another truck before exiting and speeding away – as he appeared to toss some objects from the vehicle along the way.
The chase finally ended in Claremont, Los Angeles County, thanks to the efforts of truck driver Ahmed Shabaan, who rammed his rig into the suspect’s vehicle.
Both Reed and the woman in his pickup were taken into custody but she was later released, according to police.
Reed, who was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries, is accused of killing Michael Lewis.
