WHO's Chief Scientist Soumya Swaminathan had said that the Kovid-19 variant spreading in India is highly contagious and can also neutralize the vaccine. In an interview with AFP, Soumya Swaminathan warned that this feature of the epidemic that we are seeing in India today is indicating that it is a rapidly spreading variant. He said that variant B.1.617 was detected in India in October last year.
