Sporting Lisbon fans clashed with riot police while waiting for the team bus to arrive at Marques the Pombal square where Lisbon teams traditionally celebrate the Portuguese league title.
Thousands of Sporting Lisbon fans took to the city streets on Tuesday night to celebrate and cheer their club as it was crowned Portuguese league champion after a 1-0 home win against Boavista.
After missing out on the title since 2002, Sporting lifted its 19th Portuguese league trophy, with two matches still to play.
Only Porto and Benfica have won the competition since 2002.
