'Feeding meditation | Cigar Comb Jelly (Beroe) ATTACKS & SWALLOWS its prey'
'A terrifying yet relaxing video of a cigar comb jelly (Ctenophore Beroe) eating its relative, a northern comb jelly (Bolinopsis).

This gripping footage, filmed by Semenov Aleksander, features the predator straight-up swallowing its prey without any hassle.

"The Beroe doesn't have eyes or much brain for that matter; it detects its prey with its sensory system which is located around the mouth," the filmer shared. "As soon as it senses the victim getting close, Beroe revs up, accelerates, rushes toward the food, and opens up into a huge bell shape."

"When the predator comes into contact with its victim, it tries to stretch over it, like a sock. The whole process can last from several seconds to several minutes and seeing this hunt live requires lots of luck and patience."

This incredible clip was recorded on March 13, 2019.
