Airbus unmanned solar-powered aircraft sets record for highest altitude flight.
Airbus’ solar-powered aircraft Zephyr completed an 18-day test flight at an altitude of 23 kilometers from the earth, setting a new world record for the highest altitude. This unmanned aircraft weighs less than 75 kilograms, has a wingspan of 25 meters, and can fly continuously in the stratosphere for several months. Airbus said that the aircraft is expected to help remote areas to achieve Internet connectivity, and its cost is much lower than building cell phone towers or laying fiber optic networks.
