The Women’s Tennis Association has suspended all of its tournaments in China. The decision, announced on December 1, 2021, follows international concern over Beijing’s censorship of an explosive sexual assault claim by Chinese tennis pro Peng Shuai. The two-time doubles grand slam winner accused a former high-ranking mainland official of pressuring her into having sex.
