The house sparrowor roof sparrow (Passer domesticus) is a bird of the Passeridae family quite common in Portugal. Its geographic distribution originally comprised most of Europe and Asia, having been introduced accidentally or on purpose in most of America, sub-Saharan Africa, Australia and New Zealand. It is currently the most widely distributed bird species in the world.
