Inquest begins into death of Indigenous man who drowned after being followed by police

An inquest has heard that police told the family of an Aboriginal man he was not missing despite officers seeing him disappear down a river in the NSW's north-west. The coroner is investigating the death of Gomeroi man Gordon Copeland and the police response in Moree last year.
