Allegations of abuse and cover-ups heard in Tasmania inquiry

A former detainee at Tasmania’s Ashley youth detention centre has described being beaten by a staff member for self-harming in her cell. The resident, known as 'Charlotte', says she was subjected to physical and sexual abuse over her three years at Ashley, which began when she was 12 years old.
