日本にいるヤマネは正式名称を「ニホンヤマネ」と言います。
通称は、ヤマネと呼ばれています。 げっ歯目ヤマネ科なので、ネズミ科であるハムスターなどのネズミとは全く別の種類です。 ヤマネ科は海外のものも含めて28種類います。
日本のヤマネは一属一種なので、国の天然記念物に指定されています。
また、日本には、ニホンヤマネしか住んでいません。

体重は18gとニワトリの卵より軽く、 口先から尾の先までの大きさは約13㎝です。 見た目の特徴は、背中に黒い線が一本あることです。
また、ネズミと違って、しっぽにはふさふさとした毛が生えていて、 目がくりくりっとした、かわいい動物です。
日本国内では、 本州・四国・九州・隠岐の島にいることが確認されています。 寒く、食べ物がなくなる冬には、体温を0℃近くまで下げて冬眠をします。

It weighs 18gm and is lighter than a chicken egg, and the size from the tip of the mouth to the tip of the tail is about 13 cm. The feature of the look is that there is a single black line on the back.In winter, when it is cold and there is no food, the body temperature is lowered to nearly 0 ° C and hibernity is taken.
