Tree rings can tell us the history of cosmic events

Australian scientists have shed new light on radiation storms by analysing large amounts of data on tree rings. The team from the University of Queensland set out to know more about huge bursts of cosmic radiation known as Miyake events. But by studying tree ring data, they found these events aren't correlated with sunspot activity.
