A team of volunteers, firefighters and animal control workers came together to rescue four horses that fell through and iced over pond and were stuck in the freezing water. The South Kalispell Fire Department in Montana, USA, responded to the scene south of Kalispell, near Patrick Creek, found four horses stuck in a deep pond after falling through the ice. A video shared by Amber Countryman shows the horses fighting to get out of the water and people scrambling to clear the way. A dozen people, including firefighters, staff from Flathead County Animal Control officers, and Rebecca Farm, as well as neighbours, all worked together to rescue the horses. They first tried to make makeshift pontoons from pallets and other pieces of wood in an attempt to get the animals out. They then tried to pull one horse out of the water by using a rope, but they still couldn't free the animal completely. Eventually, all four horses were harnessed out of the water using a tractor and they were all taken to a veterinary clinic where they were given treatment.
