Hue Saturation Light (HSL) Formula Test Sample

  • last year
Before moving on with the oddonomous videos I needed to ensure the Hue Saturation LIght (HSL) formulas are working. This is only the first 14400 colours in order. Let me know if you're interested in the next 14400 colours. There are 16 million to do!

Along the left are the 16 basic hues with the different saturation and brightness levels. If you are not watching this in 4k then the video will be converted to miss one of the 1000 colour combinations on each.

The right part of the image is each colour in sequence, with the best guessed simple hue then the combinations of lightness/saturation levels for the last colour of the group. Sometimes it will be slightly off the hue because there is 360' of hues opposed to 16. If not in 4k then you are at least missing some of the brightness details.

Looks simple but it's the least compressed and slowest type of image. There are millions of colours changing on each frame. Most videos for 4 minutes are within an hour (1 minute to 40 minutes, depending on the complexities). This video actually takes almost 5 hours to construct, and is 1 gig of space.
