Warwick Wilson is the consummate host. He carefully prepares for a dinner party, the table impeccably set and the duck perfectly timed for 8:30 p.m. John Taylor is a career criminal. John Taylor hatte alles bis ins Detail geplant: Der Banküberfall sollte ohne Komplikationen ablaufen. Dennoch kam alles anders. Verletzt und von der Polizei gesucht befindet er sich auf der Flucht. Auf der Suche nach einem Ort zum Untertauchen verschafft sich John unter falschem Vorwand Zutritt ins Haus des unscheinbaren Warwick Wilsons. Dieser bereitet sich seinerseits gerade auf eine Dinner Party vor, die er an diesem Abend geben möchte. Als John beschließt Warwick als Geisel zu nehmen, kommt abermals alles anders als geplant.
