When Dr. Abe Mandelbaum (Martin Landau) moves into the nursing home, Cliffside Manor, with his deteriorating wife Molly, he forms an improbable relationship with gambler and womanizer, Phil Nicoletti (Paul Sorvino). Even though at first Abe feels that moving into the home is the end of the road, he soon realizes that his life is finding a whole new beginning. Abe and Phil's friendship is challenged when a mysterious nurse (Maria Dizzia) claims that her biological father resides in the home. Without children of their own, both Abe and Phil jump at the chance to convince Angela, and themselves, that they are her father.

Als Dr. Abe Mandelbaum (Martin Landau) mit seiner sich verschlechternden Frau Molly in das Pflegeheim Cliffside Manor zieht, geht er eine unwahrscheinliche Beziehung mit dem Spieler und Frauenheld Phil Nicoletti (Paul Sorvino) ein. Obwohl Abe zunächst das Gefühl hat, dass der Umzug in das Haus das Ende des Weges ist, wird ihm bald klar, dass sein Leben einen ganz neuen Anfang findet. Abes und Phils Freundschaft wird in Frage gestellt, als eine mysteriöse Krankenschwester (Maria Dizzia) behauptet, dass ihr leiblicher Vater im Haus wohnt. Ohne eigene Kinder nutzen sowohl Abe als auch Phil die Chance, Angela und sich selbst davon zu überzeugen, dass sie ihr Vater sind.
