Ukraine - You'll Never Walk Alone

  • last year
The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) today releases a moving 60-second film titled ‘Never Alone’ highlighting the UK public’s hugely generous response to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal
which has raised over £400 million, one year since the conflict escalated.
The film was shot in Ukraine in February 2023 and features the Ukrainian cast reciting lines from Gerry and the Pacemakers ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ over the top of composer, pianist and
producer Max Richter’s track ‘Infra 5’. The DEC is grateful to both artists for allowing the use of their tracks.
Created by creative agency Don’t Panic and produced by Stink Films, ‘Never Alone’ was made by a predominantly Ukrainian crew through service company Radioaktive and directed by Leo Maguire
and Rick Dodds, working via remote camera. The film will premiere on ITV tonight (23 Feb) in an advert break during a documentary on Ukraine, and will then be shown on TV and online.
Although the people in the film are actors, they represent real stories of people who have been helped by DEC charities using funds from the appeal. At the end of the film, viewers are
directed to find out how their donations are helping by visiting dec.org.uk/ukraine.
The DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal has raised £414 million since it launched on 3 March 2022, including £25 million matched by the UK Government through the UK Aid Match scheme.
