Additionally, studios have agreed to share data about the number of hours their shows are watched on streaming platforms, which would allow writers to assess their show's popularity better. Netflix and Disney's executives are actively supporting efforts to resolve the Writers Guild of America's strike, which was started due to concerns about low pay and outdated contracts in light of the streaming and technology advancements. The strike, initiated on May 2, along with a concurrent actors' strike in July, has resulted in a pause in new film and TV production.
