Maybe the most celebrated Australian jazz fusion group formed in 1974 in Sydney. The group toured extensively, including performances at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London, at The Montreux Jazz Festival in 1982, and at The Baked Potato in Los Angeles. Crossfire recorded seven albums, and also performed on collaborative tours with Lee Ritenous and Don Grusinm, Ben Sidran and Randy Brecker. The self-titled debut album's sound has a breezy amalgam, jazz, funky, rock, fusion, solid rhythm section, with soprano sax on the edge and occasional hard guitar lead. The songs are all instumental save the last track.
