Piet Keijzer's Fatal Crash @ Venray Raceway 2005

Fifty-year-old stock car driver Piet Keijzer, a resident of Helmond, province of North Brabant in the southern Netherlands, died during a World Cup F1 Stock car race at Venray Raceway oval in the Netherlands.
Keijzer crashed his self-built F1 stock car in the third corner of the track, on Sunday, 21 August 2005. He made some attempts to start racing again but then he realised he had a flat rear tyre and decided to drive alongside the guardrail to a safer location. Then, for unknown reasons, he suddenly decided to cross the track towards the infield, coming into the path of English driver James Neachell who came into the corner at full speed. Neachell was unable to prevent running into Keijzer's car which spun violently and came to a standstill in the sand bordering the course.
The seriousness of the situation was acknowledged immediately and the race was stopped to allow the emergence crews to do their job, but the unfortunate driver was already dead at the track.
