Mediocre Theater [12] Valve is a Steam-ing pile of shit: An History of Awful Performance & Updates

When I moved into the countryside, 3 years ago, this is where I started to notice Steam giving me issues non-stop; Connection Issues when I had no choice for Internet, Framedrops/Freezes in every Games, Loss of Focus/Tabbing Out of my Game Windows which makes me easy prey, and even Steam Crashes that make me lose Serious Sam Deathless Runs, none of which are due to the Games themselves.

Most likely at this point, these issues I've cited are because Steam is incapable of flushing its RAM Usage, in other words Memory Leaks; I don't even do anything yet Steam will just keep building up RAM until it reaches 4 GB+, at which point it crashes and resets on its own, which that in itself may be why I get these Freezes, plus the Tab Outs as it Refocuses on the reloading Steam. Also, that Steam Crash at 05:32, from what Event Viewer is saying, is because the Steam Client couldn't connect or something, I don't quite get it, but so because of maybe Server Issues on Valve's part, I can lose an 8-hour Run...

This has been plaguing all of my Gameplays for years, nothing has been a smooth experience lately, in fact I've come to learn that some Games on GOG may actually run much better there than on Steam, for example Betrayer is unplayable because it keeps crashing when I try changing Levels, even trying to teleport me to the wrong Location, but on GOG, I don't have these same issues, I can actually proceed whereas I'm softlocked on Steam. Both Platforms use the same Version of that Game BTW, but there are sure to be many more examples.

I can't keep making my Videos, playing these Games on Steam, it just makes everything worse.

February 27th was the tipping point though, as Valve released a Regular Update that made Steam unusable; it would constantly crash and, something that a Valve Employee confirmed, D-Pads were not working either. As for me, not in the Beta Branch, Steam would consistently crash in about 5 Minutes, the worse it has ever been, I couldn't do a thing.

This catastrophe was in spite of all the feedback they've received in the past months, people from both the Main and Beta Branches were warning them about these issues, but they still greenlit an horrible Update that brick your Games.

Valve is beyond saving at this point, I hoped they would make a change for the better, but by evidence this was even allowed, they only kept getting worse and worse. I'm no longer having fun using the Platform, and I no longer condone supporting Games through Steam, which can turn out to be awful as some of my Favorites aren't even found elsewhere (on PC that is), not even CDs spare Serious Sam HD from this awful DRM.

There's yet more issues, such as Steam Input and Sweet Baby Inc., but I mostly wanted to talk about this historical event and that I don't even have true control over my Games anymore, I'm disappointed as they should've known better, being trendsetters and all.
