Fraueninsel, also known as Frauenchiemsee, is the second largest of the three islands in Lake Chiemsee in Germany. It belongs to the municipality of Chiemsee in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim and is the smallest municipality in the whole of Bavaria. Fraueninsel is home to the Frauenwörth Monastery, a Benedictine convent that has lived according to the Rule of St. Benedict for over 1,200 years. In addition to church services, the monastery offers guided tours, seminars and has a monastery store at the gate.
