The B58 Hustler

The Convair B-58 Hustler was the first operational jet bomber capable of Mach 2 supersonic flight. Developed for the USAF for service with SAC during the late 1950s. Intended to fly at high altitudes and speeds to avoid Soviet fighters, the introduction of the surface-to-air missile forced the B-58 into a low-level penetration role that severely limited its strategic value. The B-58 featured many rechnical inovations inclusing; sophisticated inertial guidance navigation and bombing systems, heat-resistant honeycomb sandwich skin panels in the wings and fuselage. Individual clam-sell ejection pods and an external droppable two-component pod beneath the fuselage containing extra fuel and a nuclear weapon. Music: Télépopmusik - 'Breathe'.
