It's Sunday December 27, the second anniversary of the death of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

Bhutto was assassinated in a suicide attack shortly after addressing an election rally after returning to Pakistan from self-imposed exile.

Thousands of supporters from across Pakistan flocked to Bhutto’s mausoleum to pay their respects.

Twice-elected as the country's Prime Minister, Bhutto was the first woman premier in the Muslim world.

Bhutto's widower, President Asif Ali Zardari, says Bhutto was assassinated by the enemies of Pakistan who were afraid she would turn the country into a strong nuclear power.

"She not only talked about making Pakistan a nuclear power, she also gave new technology to Pakistan, which today we call missile technology."

Arriving with his cabinet ministers Pakistan's Prime Minister offered prayers and showered Bhutto’s grave with rose petals.

Violence in Pakistan has intensified since July 2007.
