When Hurricane Katrina hit the city of New Orleans in 2005, its mayor, Ray Nagin, was thrust into the international spotlight.Both criticized for his handling of the immediate aftermath of the disaster, and highly critical of the delays in the Bush Administration's aid response, he became a polarizing figure. In Sydney as a guest of Sydney University's US Studies Centre, he and ABC broadcaster Phillip Adams have a relaxed after-dinner conversation about the days after Katrina hit, and how the rebuilding of New Orleans is progressing.
