At least two people are injured in a blast in an explosives factory in central India. There are conflicting reports as to how many people were hurt in the incident.

Factory officials say this blast that took place at an explosives factory late on Wednesday may have been caused by a short circuit. It happened on the outskirts of Nagpur City in India's Maharashtra state.

According to local media reports, at least four workers were injured. But police say there were only two injuries.

[S. Wakde, Police Superintendent]:
"The prima facie investigations show that there was no worker on the spot that night. There were two-four workers on night out, of which two were injured. One worker is missing, but according to the factory officials, he ran away after the explosion. According to the manager, there was a short-circuit in the go-down, which led to fire and finally led to the explosion."

According to an eyewitness, the blast caused the building to collapse.

[Amol Patil, Eyewitness]:
"When the blast took place, huge boulders, weighing 10-15 kilograms flew up to one kilometer in the air."

Police are investigating what caused the explosion.
