Take a look at this... a rare white Kiwi bird hatches in a wildlife center in New Zealand. The endangered bird is an offspring of a North Island Brown Kiwi.

A rare white kiwi made its first media appearance on Tuesday, after it hatched at the Pukaha Mount Bruce National Wildlife Centre near Wellington on May 1st.

The kiwi is a flightless bird native to New Zealand and is the country's national symbol.

The small bird has been named 'Manukura' by Maori elders.

Manukura is not an albino but a rare offspring of a North Island Brown Kiwi.

It's being hand-reared by Department of Conservation officers for four to six months, and is being fed a diet of minced meat and vegetables.

According to Birdlife International, the North Island Brown Kiwi is endangered.

The current population of 38,400 has decreased by as much as 86 percent over the past 36 years, due to predators and loss of habitat.
