Fighting for Sirte

The battle for Sirte. Fighters of the interim government reach the center of the city -- the birthplace of deposed leader Muammar Gaddafi.
Libyan fighters fire repeated rounds of rockets and gunfire in an attempt to dislodge forces still loyal to Gaddafi.
Residents continue to flee the city as Libya's National Transitional Council will call a two day truce to allow civilians to leave.
The prolonged battle for Sirte, encircled by anti-Gaddafi fighters and hit by regular NATO air strikes, has trapped people inside the town of about 100,000 people through several fierce assaults over two weeks.
The Red Cross is now trying to get into the city to provide help
Sirte is one of only two main remaining Gaddafi strongholds in Libya.
