Crackdown in Rastan
Amateur video out of Syria appears to show gunfire on the streets of Rastan.
The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters comes amid reports that Syrian forces killed at least twenty seven people over three days at the end of September in Rastan.
Activists say the government offensive was launched after the town came under the control of army deserters.
For about a week, tank and helicopter backed troops have battled insurgents and army deserters in Rastan, in the most sustained fighting since Syria's uprising began in March.
The official Syrian news agency said Saturday government forces had regained control of the town.
Syria has banned most independent journalists from the country making it difficult to verify accounts from either activists or the government.
The United Nations says more than 2900 people have died in Syria since the uprisings began.
