STORY: Libyan interim ruling council forces celebrated on the streets of Sirte on Thursday (October 20) reports of the death of Muammar Gaddafi, just hours after the city itself was declared liberated by the National Transitional Council (NTC).
Fighters fired weapons in the air and brandished the former leader's treasured golden handgun, after hearing unconfirmed reports from state television and other sources in the NTC, including the vice chairman Abdul Hafiz Ghoga, that the former Libyan leader may have been killed, possibly after he was found hiding in a hole in Sirte.
