Soldier commits suicide after punishment

A soldier in the Taiwanese army leaped to his death from a barracks building after suffering abuse from his commanding officer. The soldier, surnamed Su, had been forced to exercise while carrying 12 wooden training rifles and complete all his daily tasks in full combat gear after his lieutenant accused him of not listening to orders. The platoon leader kept up the punishment even after the recruit was found to be committing self harm, and has been charged under military law as a result of the abuse.
