Activists intensify whaling campaign

The anti-whaling group Sea Shepherd release new footage of their clashes with Japanese whalers in the South Ocean.

The material, filmed between February 12th and 22nd, includes what the group says is one of their members being knocked off a jet ski by a water cannon.

Reuters is unable to independently verify the authenticity of the footage.

Sea Shepherd have a history of clashing with Japanese whalers.

Last season, Japan cut short its annual whale hunt in response to what it said was harassment by the activists.

Japan, Iceland and Norway are the only three countries that still hunt whales, using a loophole in an international moratorium that allows whaling for scientific purposes.
