The Eagle – A poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson. About the poet – Alfred Lord Tennyson (1809 – 1892) was Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom during much of Queen Victoria's reign. Tennyson was born in Somersby, Lincolnshire. Tennyson excelled at penning short lyrics. He is one of the most quoted poets in the English language.
