Although the system suffered a disappointing launch and a very slow period at retail, the Nintendo 3DS finally began to pick up steam toward the end of 2011. In fact, looking at it retrospectively, 2011 doesn't seem that bad for the 3DS. Until you remember there wasn't anything to play on it for the first eight months.
